3-axis vertical machining centers, from 12.6″ to 98.4″ of X.

Leading the range, the Hasegawa PM320: a compact, Made-in-Japan 3-axis machine with a 25,000 RPM built-in spindle and 50 tools, 1,200 mm wide. Behind it, six GEN MILL sizes from 24″ to 98.4″ of X travel — four on one shared platform, and the large-frame 7039 and 10039 for big parts — plus the HSD-1000 double-column bridge machine for large, precise work.

Add a 4th or 5th axis with the machine or later — and when it is time to run unattended, Trinity AX pallet automation fits these machines too. Looking for five axes? 5-axis vertical machining centers →

Hasegawa Machine Works · builder video

The three-axis PM320, built in Japan by Hasegawa: the same compact, precise platform as the PM320-5X with a 500 × 400 mm table instead of a trunnion. A patented symmetrical structure and a separate coolant tank keep heat out of the ball screws and spindle, so it holds accuracy over long runs. Hasegawa builds its own 25,000 RPM HSK-E40 spindle, ready for through-coolant, with 30,000 and 45,000 RPM options. 50 tools at 1.9 seconds tool-to-tool load from the back while it runs; 1,181 ipm rapids, a 15-inch Fanuc iHMI touch panel, double-sided windows and access from both sides. It taps to M12 in aluminum and M10 in steel. Add a 4th axis with tailstock, tool and part measuring, or a FANUC LR Mate robot pallet station when it is time to run unattended.

The 2416, 3120, 4024 and 6328 are the same machine built at four sizes. Every one runs a 12,000 RPM inline direct-drive Big-Plus spindle with 15,000 available, a spindle chiller for thermal stability, 300 PSI through-the-tool coolant, a twin-arm high-speed changer at 2.2 to 2.8 seconds tool-to-tool, and 2,700-block look-ahead. Fourth and fifth axis wiring is fitted from the factory, so adding a rotary later is a plug-in rather than a retrofit. What changes across the range is travel, table size and how much spindle power sits behind the cut — so size the machine to the part, and everything else about how it runs stays the same. Above them, the 7039 and 10039 are a larger frame for big parts: 70.87″ and 98.43″ of X, 39.37″ of Y, 35.43″ of Z (39.37″ optional on the 10039) and up to 7,716 lb on the table, with a 50 HP-peak 12,000 RPM direct-drive Big-Plus spindle, a 40-tool chain changer and the same 4th and 5th-axis wiring. The 10039 is built on Meehanite castings with cross-roller ways in X and Y, box ways in Z and 63 mm ballscrews; its 98.43 × 39.37″ table carries 7,716 lb, and #50-taper spindles are optional (6,000 or 8,000 RPM geared, or 10,000 RPM direct-drive).

Rotary add-ons4th & 5th axis

Turn a 3-axis machine into a 4-axis or 3+2 machine — now or later

4th & 5th axis · Samchully

Add the rotary with the machine, or later.

Every 3-axis GEN MILL ships with 4th and 5th-axis wiring fitted from the factory, and the PM320 takes a 4th axis with tailstock. We quote Samchully rotary tables and tilting trunnions with any machine we sell, and we install them in machines already on your floor — table size, through-hole and servo matched to the control.

Questions

Worth asking before you buy.

Which 3-axis machine fits my work?
For small, precise parts — medical, micro and high-speed work — the Hasegawa PM320, with 12.60 × 13.39 × 14.96″ of travel and a 25,000 RPM spindle. For general job-shop and production work, the GEN MILL 2416, 3120, 4024 or 6328, from 24″ to 63″ of X. For big parts, the GEN MILL 7039 or 10039, with 39.37″ of Y and up to 98.43″ of X. For large plates and molds that need bridge-machine rigidity, the HSD-1000. Send us the part and we will size it.
What size machine do I need?
Match X travel to your longest part plus fixturing and tool clearance. The range runs from 12.60″ on the PM320 to 98.43″ on the 10039. Table load matters as much as travel on heavy work — 265 lb on the PM320, 882 lb on the 2416, 3,397 lb on the 6328, up to 7,716 lb on the 10039, and 2,000 lb on the HSD-1000’s 47.24 × 39.37″ table.
Can I add a rotary table or trunnion later?
Yes. The 3-axis GEN MILLs ship with 4th and 5th-axis wiring fitted, so a rotary is a plug-in rather than a retrofit, and the PM320 takes a 4th axis with tailstock. We quote Samchully 4th-axis tables and tilting trunnions with the machine, or install one later — and the same goes for machines already on your floor. Rotary add-ons →
Can these machines run unattended?
Yes. The PM320 offers a FANUC LR Mate robot pallet station, and Trinity AX pallet systems fit 3-axis machining centers and drill and tapping centers — added with the machine or retrofitted later. Trinity AX →
What taper do these machines use?
CAT#40 on the GEN MILL range, with BT#40 optional and CAT#50 or BT#50 on the 6328, 7039 and 10039. The HSD-1000 runs a dual-contact CAT-40 spindle. The Hasegawa PM320 is HSK-E40, or HSK-E32 with the 30,000 and 45,000 RPM spindles. Balanced toolholders to G2.5 are required above 10,000 RPM.
What warranty comes with them?
One year on the machine. The GEN MILLs carry three years on the Mitsubishi control, motors and drives; the PM320 carries two years on the Fanuc control, motors and drives.
Before the first chip

A machine is only as good as what holds the part and the tool.

The spindle, the table and the travels are the reach. Workholding, toolholding and tooling decide how much of it you actually use — and North Shore Industrial Tool, the tooling side of our team, quotes them with the machine.

Workholding

Vises, zero-point systems, chucks and fixturing sized to the table and the part, so setups change in minutes and the machine spends its time cutting.

NSIT workholding →

Toolholding, balancing & presetting

REGO-FIX powRgrip and HAIMER shrink fit, plus Safe-Lock pull-out protection, balancing and presetting — what keeps a 12,000 to 25,000 RPM spindle accurate.

Tooling, workholding and the crib

Cutting tools, toolholding, workholding, metrology and a managed inventory program. Same people, same phone number, so the machine arrives with the tooling package already sorted.
