Multi-turret lathes, two to four turrets on one part.

A Spinner TTS puts up to four independent servo turrets on a twin-spindle turning center. Every turret can work the main spindle or the sub spindle — so roughing, finishing and the back side run at the same time instead of one after another.

Two platforms: the TTS42 / TTS65 with up to three turrets on a 90° slant bed, and the TTS85 / TTS125 for large workpieces with up to four turrets, 80 kW motor spindles and a long-bed option. Motor spindles, turrets and machine mechanics are built in Spinner’s own factory in Sauerlach.

Twelve-station servo turrets with every station driven, on BMT45 holders as standard or VDI25 as an option. Each turret carries an integrated vibration absorber to cut micro-vibration, and direct measuring systems with central cooling keep the machine thermally stable. The 90° slant bed lets chips fall free.

Main spindle 42 mm at 7,000 rpm or 65 mm at 5,000 rpm, with a TTS65 High Torque version at 30 kW and 221 Nm. A tailstock can replace the sub spindle. Siemens 840D sl on a 24-inch panel or Fanuc 31i on 15-inch, mounted left or right; parts leave by catcher and conveyor at the front or the right side.

Bar-fed from a Spinner SERVO short-bar feeder (bars to 1,500 mm) or bar-loading magazine (to 3,200 mm), or loaded by a Spinner-Automation robot cell.

Two motor spindles of 85 mm or 125 mm bore, chosen freely for main and sub — so the machine can run bar on one side and chuck work up to about Ø500 mm on the other, at the same time. Up to four turrets, with up to two Y axes at the top of the working area.

Servo turrets with 16 BMT45 stations, or 12 BMT65 as an option, every station driven at 15 kW and 82.7 Nm. Steady rests can each move in two CNC axes on a cross-slide from a protected park position; a tailstock can replace the sub spindle. Siemens or Fanuc on a movable operator panel.

Choose the turret layout

Duo · Duplex · Twin · Triplex · Quadrex

The layout is chosen for the part. Turrets above the spindle centerline carry the Y axis; Twin keeps both turrets on top so chips fall straight down and the lower cross-slide is free for one or two steady rests. The Duo and the four-turret Quadrex are built on the TTS85 / TTS125.

Multi-turret questions

Three turrets or four? And other things worth asking.

What is a multi-turret lathe?
A turning center with two, three or four independent turrets cutting at the same time. On a Spinner TTS every turret can work the main spindle or the sub spindle, so roughing, finishing and back-working overlap instead of queueing.
Which layouts does each size come in?
The TTS42 and TTS65 come as Duplex, Twin or Triplex — up to three turrets. The TTS85 and TTS125 add the Duo and the four-turret Quadrex. The single-turret TS42 and TS65 share the smaller platform.
What bar sizes does the TTS range cover?
42 mm (1.7″), 65 mm (2.6″), 85 mm (3.3″) and 125 mm (4.9″) spindle bores. On the TTS85 and TTS125 the 85 mm and 125 mm motor spindles can be chosen freely for main and sub, and chucked work runs to about Ø500 mm.
Can the TTS run long shafts?
Yes. The TTS85 and TTS125 come with a short bed (1,500 mm between spindle noses) or a long bed (2,100 mm), with steady rests on CNC cross-slides or a tailstock in place of the sub spindle. The TTS42 and TTS65 also take a tailstock instead of the sub spindle.
How is this different from the GenTurn twin-turret machines?
The GenTurn CW52 MY is a compact Japanese-built twin-turret machine on 52 mm bar. The TTS range runs from 42 mm to 125 mm bores with up to four turrets — for larger parts, longer parts, or volumes where a third and fourth cutting edge pays for itself.

Live tooling for every station

Twelve or sixteen driven stations per turret is a lot of holders to keep sharp and in stock. NSIT supplies quick-change live tooling and the inserts that run in it, on a managed program.
